Mark Morris

Mark Morris is a self-taught artist originating from West Wales, but now living in London. He started painting in 2007 and had his first exhibition in September 2008, he has exhibited in several galleries across South Wales including the Albany Gallery and Kooywood in Cardiff, King Street Gallery, Carmarthen, White Lion Gallery, Tenby and Nick Holly Studio Gallery, Swansea.

After an early fascination with the works of Turner, it was the Impressionists of the 19th Century that proved most influential. That influence continued through the Post-Impressionist era of the Camden Town Group and the Contemporary Impressionists of today.

The predominant element in Mark's work is the study of the Urban Landscape and the people moving through it, especially the effect of light and contre jour on the landscape, he also enjoys painting from life. Mark’s paintings are in acrylic on board or canvas and he is always working on several paintings at a time.
